How to play
- Steer by swiping anywhere on the board, or with the arrow keys, WASD or a gamepad. The snake never stops, and turning straight back is ignored.
- Eat the dot by running over it. The snake grows by a tile and the next dot appears. The edge of the board ends the game.
- Crossings: every fifth dot is a crossing +. It stays on the board, and it’s the only place the snake may cross itself.
- Crossing over is straight: the snake can’t turn on a crossing, and each one takes one pass across and one pass down, no more.
- Pause with P, Escape or Space, or by leaving the page. Your best is kept in this browser.
It all stays in your browser
The game runs inside this page and works offline once you've played it. Your best score is kept in this browser only: there are no accounts, no leaderboards and no ads, and nothing you do here is sent anywhere.
Questions
- How do crossings work?
- Every fifth dot is a crossing. Once eaten it stays on the board, and the snake may pass over it twice: once across and once down. It can’t turn while on one, so plan your way through.
- Does it get faster?
- Yes, gently: a little with every dot, up to a top speed at about 37 dots.
- Can I play on a phone?
- Yes. Swipe anywhere on the board to steer. The page doesn’t scroll while your finger is on the board.
- Where is my best score kept?
- In this browser, on this device. Clearing the site’s data resets it. Nothing is sent anywhere.
