Add page numbers to a PDF
Number the pages of your PDFs. It happens on your device: nothing is uploaded.
How to add page numbers to PDF
- Choose the PDFs to number, or drop them anywhere on this page.
- Pick where the numbers go and how they read, such as “Page 3 of 10”.
- Select Add page numbers, then download the result.
Your files stay on your device
This tool runs inside your browser: your PDFs are processed on your device and never uploaded. Your browser enforces which servers the page may talk to, and none of them is sent your files. Here's how you can check. Once you've used it, it works offline too.
Questions
- Can I leave the cover without a number?
- Yes. Tick “No number on the first page” and numbering starts on the second page. Set “Start at” to choose the first number, for example 1 or 2.
- Do the numbers land in the right place on turned pages?
- Yes. Numbers go where you chose on the page as you see it, whichever way the page is turned, inside its visible area.
- Is my PDF uploaded?
- No. Your browser numbers it, on your device, and the new PDF is saved straight back to it.
- Can I number a password-protected PDF?
- Remove the password first with Unlock PDF (you need to know it), number the pages, then protect it again with Protect PDF.
