Your files stay on your device

This tool runs inside your browser: your PDFs are processed on your device and never uploaded. Your browser enforces which servers the page may talk to, and none of them is sent your files. Here's how you can check. Once you've used it, it works offline too.

Questions

How strong is the protection?
The PDF is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest encryption PDFs have. With a long password nobody can open it without the password, so keep it safe: if you lose it, we can’t get the PDF back for you.
Do you see my password?
No. The password and the PDF stay in this page on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and the password is forgotten when you close the page.
Which apps can open it?
Every current PDF reader: the ones built into browsers, phones and computers, and Adobe Acrobat.
Can I stop people printing or copying?
We don’t offer that. Those limits are only a request that PDF apps are free to ignore, so they would give a false sense of safety. A password to open the file is real protection.
